So There Was This House...

I'm revising my purpose for this little blog of mine. I'm going to make a point to look for the art that's hidden in every day, and I'm gonna tell you all about it, you lucky dog you! Sometimes it'll be more abstract, other times it'll be more literal, and sometimes it'll be somewhere in between the two. I'm not promising this is going to happen on a daily basis, shoot the last time I posted an entry on here it was in 2008, but I am gonna try to be more frequent and make sure it's not another 2 years before I write again :).

While driving through a neighborhood on my way home from church this morning I passed by what was probably the greatest little house I've ever seen. It was this cute little one-story number, looked like a doll house. Front porch, tall slanted roof, a bunch of windows, in a word, precious. The greatest thing about his house though was that it was in the process of being painted bright teal. I'm talking "woa-in-your-face-keep-your-eyes-on-the-road!" teal. It was amazing! Such a vibrant color and it added such character to this little abode. It was like a little work of art right on the side of the street, I was instantly drawn to it like a painting or photograph or sculpture would draw me in. I also loved the idea of the lucky owner of that adorable house expressing themselves through just a coat of paint on something so ordinary.

I've always wondered if someday when I have my own house that I'll have the guts to paint it a vibrant crazy color like teal. I like to think that I will. Not sure what color I'm going to choose, but I would love to do something so bold. So individualistic. So maybe someday you'll be driving down some street in some neighborhood on some sunday morning after church, and will see a cute little house ('cause I'm definitely gonna have a cute little house when it's time for me to have my own place) painted some crazy color like tangerine or magenta or royal blue, and it just might happen that it'll be my house that you're passing.
